Deliver for Veterans Act Aims to Assist Disabled Veterans in Hawaii

Disabled veterans living in Hawaii face unique hurdles getting their specialized vehicles from the mainland due to high shipping costs.

To address this, Senator Brian Schatz of Hawaii and Senator Lisa Murkowski of Alaska have reintroduced the Deliver for Veterans Act.

While veterans may receive up to $26,400 for accessible vehicle purchases or modifications, these funds currently do not cover shipping — leaving neighbors outside the continental U.S. to pay out of pocket.

Advocates like retired Marine Lt. Col. John Digiovanni stress that veterans’ benefits must reflect local cost differences and ensure comprehensive support.

The bill is now with the Senate Committee on Veterans Affairs.

Meanwhile, the opening of the Daniel Kahikina Akaka VA Clinic in Kapolei marks a major improvement in healthcare access for Pacific Islands veterans, honoring the legacy of Senator Daniel Akaka.

Arizona Wildcats Set to Kick Off 2025 Season Against Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

The Arizona Wildcats kick off their 2025 football season Saturday at Arizona Stadium against the Hawaii Rainbow Warriors.

After finishing 4–8 last year, Arizona is eager to rebound under second-year head coach Brent Brennan.

Quarterback Noah Fifita brings nearly 6,000 passing yards to the field, while his connection with Tetairoa McMillan, a 2024 Consensus All-American, promises fireworks for the offense.

On defense, Danny Gonzales steps in as the new coordinator, counting on Jacob Manu—last season’s Pac-12 tackles leader—and standout safety Genesis Smith to anchor the unit.

Hawaii arrives with momentum after a dramatic win over Stanford, but questions remain about freshman quarterback Micah Alejado’s ankle injury.

Key duels to watch: Arizona linebacker Taye Brown versus Hawaii’s quick-passing game, and defensive lineman Tiaoalii Savea lining up against Hawaii’s center.

Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. MST, with fans ready to witness a revitalized Wildcats squad.
