The Kauai Bus and Masabi have introduced a new contactless payment method for bus riders, allowing them to use credit or debit cards or mobile wallets like Apple Pay or Google Pay. This new method follows the launch of mobile ticketing earlier this year and Account-Based Ticketing with the Holomua smartcard. The County of Kauai stated that mobile payments make boarding faster and reduce operational costs. CEO Brian Zanghi highlighted the goal of making public transit more accessible and efficient for residents and visitors. Account Linking was also introduced, allowing riders to connect their payment card to a transit account for benefits such as reduced fares and trip history access. |
